CMS Updates Emergency Preparedness Rule Guidance June 2, 2017, with Clarifying FAQs

June 4, 2017. On June 2, 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an update entitled: Emergency Preparedness Rule that revises certain downloadable Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) pertaining to the September 16, 2016, Final Rule entitled: Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers published in the Federal Register. The preceding June 1, 2017, post describes the 17 providers and suppliers required to achieve compliance with the provisions of the Final Rule by November 15, 2017. Here are Questions (Q) and Answers (A) marked as “revised June 2017” in this update:

CMS Announces 2018 Attestation Timeframe and Reminds Covered Entities that HIPAA Security Rule covers APIs

May 2, 2017. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published in the Federal Register on Friday, April 28, an omnibus proposed rule entitled: “Medicare Program; Hospital Inpatient Prospective Payment Systems for Acute Care Hospitals and the Long-Term Care Hospital Prospective Payment Systems and Proposed Policy Changes and Fiscal Year 2018 Rates; Quality Reporting Requirements for Specific Providers; Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program Requirements for Eligible Hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and Eligible Professionals; Provider-Based Status of Indian Health Service and Tribal Facilities and Organizations; Costs Reporting and Provider Requirements; Agreement Termination Notices.” CMS invites comments received no later than 5 PM EDT on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, with instructions on sending comments near the beginning of the document.

CMS Clarifies Security Measure Attestation Rules for Certified EHR Meaningful Use Incentive Program

November 10, 2016. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will publish in the Federal Register on Monday, November 14, 2016, a lengthy document—in prepublication format examined here--with a long title consisting of multiple components, one of which is entitled:   Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program.

CMS Publishes Final Rule on Emergency Preparedness Affecting Medicare and Medicaid Providers and Suppliers

On September 16, 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published in the Federal Register a Final Rule entitled: Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Emergency Preparedness Requirements for Medicare and Medicaid Participating Providers and Suppliers.

CMS Issues Stage 3 Meaningful Use Proposed Rules—Part 1 of 2

April 9, 2015.  On March 30, 2015, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published the following proposed rule:
